Our group is excited to share that Leticia Izquierdo will be presenting at the DIS 2026 (Designing Interactive Systems) conference in Singapore with the paper "My Digital Twin Walks the City."

This work explores how digital twins can authentically represent human decision-making in urban navigation. Through a community engagement process in San Francisco, the research team interviewed citizens to understand their mobility preferences, navigation patterns, and the reasoning behind their route choices.

Using this data, the team constructed personalized digital twins for each participant and tested them in the same urban scenarios. The core question: Do digital twins replicate the same navigation decisions, and do they understand the underlying reasons for those choices?

This research bridges human behavior, urban mobility, and AI, offering insights into how computational models can authentically capture human decision-making processes.
