Charles Lu and Siddharth Somasundaram, graduate students in the Camera Culture research group, have been selected for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF-GRFP). Lu has been selected as a Fellow in the field of Machine Learning and Somasundaram has been selected as a Fellow in the field of Computer Vision.
The NSF-GRFP is a prestigious grant awarded annually by the National Science Foundation to approximately 2,000 students pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in the natural, social, and engineering sciences at US institutions. The Fellowship offers three years of support over a five-year period which will be paid through the awardee's academic institution. Being chosen as a NSF Graduate Research Fellow is a significant national accomplishment and places awardees among an elite group of Fellows, many of whom have gone on to distinguished careers in STEM or STEM education.
