Mengying "Cathy" Fang is a creative technologist born and raised in Shanghai, China. At the intersection of technology and human experience, her research aims to bridge the gap between the digital and physical realms, leveraging technologies like mixed reality, artificial intelligence, and wearable devices, to enhance how we interact with the world around us and how we understand and improve ourselves.
She has published at major Human-Computer Interaction conferences like ACM CHI, UIST, and Augmented Humans, and received a Best Paper Award and multiple Best Paper Honorable Mentions. Her work has been featured on NBC Nightly News and various news outlets, and recognized with design awards from Fast Company.
Fang holds a Bachelor's degree with Honors from Carnegie Mellon University in Mechanical Engineering and Human-Computer Interaction. She has also worked at Microsoft, Apple, IDEO, and Magic Leap.
