Ann Berger Valente leads studies to set the educational direction of the Brazilian Creative Learning Network (BCLN), a social movement that aims to promote education in Brazil that is more creative, hands-on and relevant for children and youth throughout the country. Strategies include research and documentation of Festivals of Invention and Creativity across Brazil and international sites; design of professional education opportunities; and evaluation studies of educational programs in Brazilian schools and community-based educational settings.
Ann has a B.A. in Child Development from Tufts University, M.Ed. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Having worked at the Logo Laboratory in the early 1980’s she returns to MIT after working with educational technology in schools and research settings in São Paulo, Brazil.
