The Chinese University of Hong Kong will present the Asian premiere of Professor Tod Machover’s chamber opera Schoenberg in Hollywood on November 4, 2023.

This performance, at the Grand Theater of Longgang Cultural Center in Shenzhen, is part of a series of events celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of composer Arnold Schoenberg, including an academic conference and live performances taking place from November 3–5.  Baritone Marco di Sapia, who sang the title role in the European premiere in Vienna in 2022, returns as Schoenberg. The remaining members of the opera’s cast and creative team are Chinese. Shi Jinfu directs the staging and Deng Zhuorui conducts the singers and instrumentalists.
