Establishing telecenters (community computer centers that often provide a range of services) in developing countries requires careful evaluation of alternative hardware configurations, power sources and telecommunication services. Quite often the goal is to find a configuration whose recurrent cost can be sustained by the target community. The Telecenter Cost Estimator is a visual tool for exploring the impact of alternative telecenter configurations on capital and ongoing costs.
