"Leveraging Large Language Models for Learning Complex Legal Concepts through Storytelling," published by the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL 2024), bridges cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) with the ancient wisdom of narrative to democratize legal knowledge. Our research, conducted at MIT's Center for Constructive Communication (CCC) in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab's Personal Robots and Human Dynamics groups, demonstrates how AI can transform complex legal concepts into engaging stories. This novel approach aims to enhance civic engagement and democratic participation by making legal knowledge more accessible to the general public.
This work is one of the first to use LLMs for legal learning and social skill training and has become part of a broader research program focused on building civic engagement through generative AI.
