FrameGrabber is a simple, browser-based tool that lets the user upload an animation and convert it to a contact sheet. Upload a video, set the dimensions of the desired contact sheet, adjust other settings such as colors and length if needed, and let the program run. The contact sheet can be exported as an image file or PDF.
This tool was initially developed as a means to rapidly create flipbooks, a popular way of accommodating animations in an analog medium.
The tool was also used to convert a digital animation to print, and then convert it back to an animation.
The tool works for other types of fabrication too, in this case, we tested it to create a knitted animation., that also serves as a scarf.
In the second iteration of this conversion approach, the knitted fabric was converted to a wall panel.
