The State of AI and Human Flourishing Survey is a research initiative from the MIT Media Lab’s Advancing Humans with AI (AHA) program examining how AI tools are shaping people’s lives. The project asks whether AI is helping people flourish across domains such as learning, work, creativity, social connection, agency, purpose, mental health, and overall wellbeing.
Through a pilot survey of 1,000 participants, we study how different kinds of AI use—from chatbots and coding assistants to creative tools, companions, and agents—relate to validated measures of human flourishing, as well as people’s own reflections on when AI helps or harms their lives.
