"Re·Live" project receives Honorable Mention for Best Paper at IEEE VR 2025

Re·Live—a project created by Fluid Interfaces researchers Valdemar Danry, Eli Villa, Samantha Chan, and Professor Pattie Maes—received an Honorable Mention for Best Paper at IEEE VR 2025.

The project investigates how immersive VR reconstructions of personal memories impact emotional and sensory recall. The study further shows that walking through spatially reconstructed past environments significantly enhances the vividness and emotional intensity of autobiographical memories, compared to simply watching video footage.

IEEE VR is an international venue for research in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality. Since 1993, it has recognized pioneering work across disciplines that shape the future of immersive experience. Re·Live continues this tradition by merging technology, neuroscience, and philosophy to push the boundaries of human–machine interaction.
