MeshModule receives Student Notable honor in Toys & Play at Core77 Design Awards 2026

Hye Jun Youn

MeshModule, developed by Hye Jun Youn of the Tangible Media Group, has received a Student Notable honor in the Toys & Play category at the Core77 Design Awards 2026.

MeshModule transforms textiles into a playful, buildable system where anyone can design, assemble, and wear their own creations. Made of 3D-printed units that snap together using intuitive connectors such as snap-fit and slot-and-tab, each piece acts like a "textile block," allowing users to quickly build fabrics that can bend, rotate, stretch, or hold shape — no sewing or prior experience required.

The project team also includes graduate student Jack Forman from the Tangible Media Group, Serena Xin Wei Sara, a UROP in the Tangible Media Group, Hyeokjun Yoon from Conformable Decoders, and Professor Hiroshi Ishii.

The Core77 Design Awards honor innovative design across 21 categories. The Toys & Play category recognizes consumer products designed for children or adults for the purpose of activating play and creative exploration.
