Christopher Shallal, a graduate student in the Biomechatronics group, has been selected as one of the inaugural MIT Health and Life Sciences Collaborative (HEALS) Graduate Fellows, joining a cohort of ~30 MIT grad students advancing cross-disciplinary work in health and life sciences.
Christopher Shallal is currently working on the eOPRA system (electronic osseointegrated prostheses for the rehabilitation of amputees), which combines titanium implants, novel mechanoneural interfaces, and implanted electrodes to provide amputees with more natural movement, proprioception, and intuitive control of powered prostheses.
MIT HEALS supports researchers tackling critical challenges across diagnostics, brain health, public health, and more—connecting disciplines to accelerate real-world impact.
