Dr. Lin (Leon) Zhang received his bachelor’s degree in Electronic Science and Technology and master’s degree in Microelectronics and Solid State Electronics both at Xi’an Jiaotong University, China. He obtained his PhD degree in Materials Engineering in 2013 at Auburn University, USA. From 2013 to 2019, he was a Research Assistant Professor in Materials Engineering at Auburn University, Postdoctoral Researcher in NanoEngineering at UC San Diego, and Associate Professor in Electronic Materials Research Laboratory (EMRL) at Xi’an Jiaotong University. He started as a Research Scientist at MIT Media Lab from January of 2019.

Dr. Zhang has  authored or co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, including Science Advances, Nature Biomedical Engineering, Advanced MaterialsNano Energy, etc. He  hold three US patents and wrote three book chapters. He also served as the Guest Editor for several journals. His work has been recognized by various prestigious media outlets, including ScienceDaily, Techxplore, Eurekalert, The engineer, ACM, ASME, MIT Technology Review, NIH Director's Blog, NIBIB, NIH Research Matters, NBC7 etc. His scientific interests mainly focus on Smart and Flexible Electronics, include piezoelectric composites for sensors and transducers,  dielectric composites for energy storage, conducting composites for multifunctional applications, and flexible/stretchable electronics.
