Julia Reda

Julia Reda is a politician and an advocate for access to knowledge and culture through copyright reform. In 2014, she was elected to the European Parliament for the German Pirate Party, representing a young worldwide movement of people who believe in using technology for the empowerment of all. As draftsperson for the review of the copyright directive, she advocates for a European copyright that is adapted to the digital era, that is easy to understand and enables the free exchange of culture and knowledge across borders. Julia Reda is one of the youngest members of the current European Parliament. She holds a master's in political science and communications science from Johannes-Gutenberg-University Mainz, Germany. Her research interests span all elements of the interaction of digital technology with law and society.
