Ilham Ali is a Master’s student in the Technology & Policy Program (TPP) and a graduate research assistant at the Space Enabled Group. She previously interned at the lab during its first summer in 2018, as a college junior and a member of the MIT Summer Research Program, working on the Benin project. She specializes in using satellite Earth observation data to advance sustainable development and environmental health in communities through equitable design. Ilham is Sudanese by way of Alabama and enjoys giving back to her communities.
Before coming to MIT, Ilham worked at the IBM Corporation as a Client Technical Specialist and has internship experience at the San Francisco Department of Public Works as a design engineer. She studied Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama with minors in Public Policy and Computer Science. Ilham is passionate about the arts, and in her free time, she enjoys painting, playing guitar, and hanging out with friends and family.
