Adrian Mora-Carrero is a computer scientist and researcher working at the intersection of urban science, artificial intelligence, and agent-based modeling. His research focuses on the development of AI-driven simulation systems for understanding urban behavior, exploring alternative scenarios, and supporting decision-making in complex urban environments.
His work investigates how generative agents and large language models can extend traditional agent-based models by enabling richer, more adaptive representations of human behavior. He is also interested in human–AI and collective decision-making, including how people delegate authority to AI systems and how computational tools can support collaborative urban planning. Within the City Science group, his work has included the development and integration of interactive simulation tools such as CityScope, urban performance modeling, and new approaches to generative agent-based simulation.
More broadly, his research explores how emerging AI and computational methods can be translated into practical tools for studying cities and supporting more informed, participatory, and adaptive urban decision-making.
