Hundred Dollar Laptop

Through the Hundred-Dollar Laptop initiative, the Media Lab is working with One Laptop per Child (OLPC), a non-profit association that joins Media Lab researchers with a small number of companies of complementary skills to develop a fully functioning, easily manufactured, connected laptop that will initially cost $100, and whose price will steadily decrease. The laptop will be sold to governments and issued to schools on a basis of one laptop per child. The initial market will be the one billion children in primary and secondary schools worldwide, with particular emphasis on remote areas of the world, especially those without connectivity.
