Please join us on Tuesday, May 26 from 3 to 4 pm in the Third Floor Atrium for a conversation with Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey

Senator Ed Markey was co-author of the Telecommunications Act, a law that helped usher in the transformation of communications technology from analog to digital. This discussion will feature a group of voices with expertise on this law and what it means today: Massachusetts Broadband Institute Director Michael Baldino; Incoming President of the American Library Association Maria McCauley; Chief Information Officer of the City of Boston Santi Garces; Founder of the Loop Lab Reverend Chris Hope; Legal Director of Massachusetts Immigrants and Refugees Advocacy Virginia Benzan; and Executive Director of the Franklin Regional Council of Governments Linda Dunleavy.

"The Telecommunications Act helped usher in the digital age. Thirty years on, it's the right time to ask what we can learn from this landmark law as we design what's next. The Media Lab is just the place to do it — imagining a future in which technology works for everyone is at the heart of our mission." – Media Lab Executive Director Jessica Rosenworcel
