Digital Twin & AI Graphs (Lenses):

The demo begins with a user entering the lab's "Digital Town," where each research group and professor is represented by an AI Graph, or "Lens," embodying their knowledge and expertise obtained over the years.

Initially, the user sees selected research groups and is presented with three individuals whose lenses they can put on:

• Dava, the director of the MIT Media Lab
• Matti, an incoming graduate student
• Mirei, a staff member at the MIT Media Lab

Your Lens & Gen AI Interaction:

The user employs our Gen AI tool, prompting it to explore the Human Dynamics group through Dava’s Lens. The system retrieves relevant projects and generates commentary from Dava alongside each project.

Exploring Other Lenses: Graduate Students and Staff:

The user then transitions to view projects through Matti's Lens (a graduate student) and subsequently Mirei's Lens (a staff Lens) .

Mirei's segment highlights how authorized lab members can visualize group memberships and ongoing projects within the platform, but this data will not be shared to non-authorized users.

Cross-Disciplinary Idea Generation:

The final segment demonstrates the platform's ability to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration. This is a powerful tool.

The user identifies two distinct groups/projects (e.g., Perspective Aware AI and Molecular Machines Group) and seeks to find synergies.

Our Gen AI tool proposes a new collaborative project: "Creating an intergenerational health network using Lenses and Genome Data", showcasing the potential for constructive collisions between seemingly disparate fields.

Perspective-Aware AI in Extended Reality

Our group recently submitted a paper outlining how Perspective-Aware AI (PAi) can shape the future of Extended Reality (XR) through a new spectrum of hyper-personalization in immersive environments. 

By using personalized and shareable models grounded in user identity, PAi enables users to see the world through the lenses of other people, organizations, or entities—opening up new possibilities for understanding, collaboration, and storytelling within immersive environments.

We’re excited to share our framework that bridges PAi and XR in a way that feels both intuitive and impactful. PAi has the potential to deepen immersive experiences by making them more relational, inclusive, and reflective—allowing users to shift perspectives and engage with the world in fundamentally new ways.
