Feeling Climate Crisis is a series of kinetic sculptures that visualize the ongoing climate crisis. Movements of the sculptures express data about changes in vital signs of our planet. These sculptures are made with found natural objects juxtaposed with electromechanical elements. This series attempts to create an experience that allows viewers to feel climate data.
Data for the movement is taken from a publication titled World Scientists’ Warning of a Climate Emergency 2021. This publication presents graphs of planetary vital signs indicating troubling trends. Based on these data and scientists’ moral obligation to “clearly warn humanity of any catastrophic threat,” the publication calls for transformative change.
