The Anemoia Device, developed by Cyrus Clarke of the Tangible Media Group, has won the Emerging Technologies category at the Core77 Design Awards 2026.

The project represents a vision for how emerging AI technologies can extend beyond digital interfaces into physical, sensory experiences. The working prototype integrates VLMs, LLMs, semantic reasoning systems, and precision hardware into a coherent system for computational memory-making, pointing towards new possibilities for AI-augmented tools, products, and experiences that engage multiple senses and forge emotional connections to synthetic pasts.

The project team also includes Professor Hiroshi Ishii and collaborators from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

The Core77 Design Awards honor innovative design across 21 categories. The Emerging Technologies category recognizes systems, services, research, hardware, or software products created with the aid of recently developed technologies, including artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality, robotics, and advanced materials.
