Edith was a mentor to me, both inside and outside academics, inside and outside the Lab. In our discussions, Edith had a knack for taking our thoughts to new dimensions. When everyone else thought ideas were going to go left or right, she would take us down and up, into the past and into the future. She also helped me stay focused on my values throughout my journey as a student and researcher. Most amazingly, she did it all with lightness and humor, like the time she literally jumped up, flung one of my projects into the air and watched it dance its way back to the ground to make a point. For these and many other reasons, I will deeply miss her.
