Ehsan Hoque, an alum of the Affective Computing group, has been named one of five finalists for the 2025 Letten Prize, selected from 158 applicants. Hoque, now a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Rochester, focuses on integrating AI into health diagnostics to expand access to care. His tool, PARK (Parkinson’s Analysis with Remote Kinetic Tasks), enables remote symptom detection using video analysis and has potential to improve early diagnosis in underserved communities.

The Letten Prize, established by the Letten Foundation and the Young Academy of Norway, honors early-career researchers whose work addresses global challenges in health, development, and the environment. Finalists are selected for both the scientific merit and real-world impact of their research.
