December 4-10 is Computer Science Education Week, featuring Hour of Code—an initiative to encourage kids of all ages to engage in one hour of coding and learn about the limitless possibilities that computer science opens up. The Media Lab’s Scratch team and the Scratch Foundation are participating in CSEdWeek with lots of fun activities and opportunities for kids, parents, and educators to use their imaginations and get creative with code.
On Monday, 12/4, the daily Google Doodle featured the first-ever coding doodle, made of Scratch Blocks. Champika Fernando of the Media Lab’s Scratch team shares the backstory on the programmable doodle, and tells the story of finding her way to computer science in her own life, in Celebrating 50 years of Kids Coding.
