Elena is a graduate research assistant in the Responsive Environments Group. Her current research involves exploring the use of multi-sensory media to create new interactions that blend the digital realm with the physical. Her goals are to foster new social dynamics and to augment human cognitive and physical abilities in the process. Prior to joining the Media Lab, she interned with the Wyss Institute and the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, working on building functional electronic devices through novel digital fabrication methods. She has also started an ed-tech company and served as the Program Coordinator for the National Program of Digital Fabrication and Maker Culture in Panama. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
