Artist / Scientist / Inventor

As an artist I seek to explore the boundaries of what defines Photography (light-drawing). I work to create unique artistic practices by manipulating forms of light and photographic materials. In making my images I take on the roles of sculptor, painter, scientist, and inventor coupled with that of a photographer. With my work I hope to explore the fundamental reactions of the psyche to imagery that, while abstract, is representative of the forces that comprise our world.

As a scientist/inventor I aim to create nanotechnologies capable of harnessing light to a degree never before possible. To accomplish this, I am researching and developing novel nanofabrication methodologies for the creation of truly three dimensional structures with nanometer resolutions. With these new fabrication techniques I hope to create optical metamaterials, photonic crystals, 3D electronics, and novel materials beyond the scope of traditional nanofabrication.
