Colin Marcus earned his B.S. degree from the Dept. of Physics at the University of Rochester. After graduating, he worked for several years in the Dept. of Physics and Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering at MIT. During this time he discovered a love for hardware electronics design and developed instrumentation for experiments in several research groups.
Colin's work spans across multiple disciplines including physics, electrical engineering, optics, acoustics, materials science, and signal processing.
His current research focuses on the theoretical design and practical fabrication of medical ultrasound arrays, electronics systems, and algorithms for use in breast cancer detection and other imaging applications.
In the longer term he is interested in systems for the enhancement and extension of human senses using augmented reality, with eventual integration with cybernetics.
