PlusMinus

PlusMinus is a collaborative platform for the Media Lab to thoughtfully explore and design for the tradeoffs - the pluses and minuses - of the technologies we send out into the world.  The Media Lab community - and beyond - can participate in this platform through  fellowships, internships, UROPs, and student involvement. If you'd like to join us, say hello!

PlusMinus Fellowships

Each year, through PlusMinus fellowships, we offer financial support to Media Lab researchers whose work addresses  the PlusMinus theme of creating equitable positive impact from a unique perspective,  and whose approach centers diverse voices in the design process.

A call for fellowship proposals will be made available to MAS students in the fall. If interested in PlusMinus fellowships, please email plusminus_fellows at media.mit.edu.

Students & Internships

Graduate Students: PlusMinus isn’t a research group, rather we bring together and support students from formal research groups across the Media Lab. As a program,  we don't currently accept MAS students.

Undergraduate Students: MIT students can check the UROPS website for research PlusMinus project opportunities each semester. For non-MIT visiting students - or undergraduates cross-registered at MIT - interested in participating in PlusMinus work, please submit a cover letter, CV and/or links to digital portfolio, and a research proposal to plusminus_students  at media.mit.edu.

Internships:  Occasionally, internship opportunities may be available for MIT graduate students. If you'd like to be considered if/when an opportunity comes up, please submit a cover letter, CV and/or links to digital portfolio, and a research proposal to plusminus_students  at media.mit.edu.
