Abstract
Even though women live longer on average, they also spend 25% more time in poor health than men, and most of this health burden happens during their working years. McKinsey Health Institute’s latest report, “Blueprint to Close the Women’s Health Gap: How to improve lives and economies for all,” identifies actionable steps to advance better health for women and build stronger economies. This report provides a blueprint for developing a comprehensive, global view of women’s health. It also addresses the broader women’s health gap, exploring nine medical conditions that impact women uniquely, differently, or disproportionately, comprising one-third of the women’s health gap. Closing the women’s health gap could unlock up to 75 million years of higher quality life for women, and could unlock $400 billion in global annual GDP by 2040.
