Vincent Leclerc, co-founder and CTO of PixMob (www.pixmob.com), will discuss the challenges and opportunities of designing embedded objects for large crowds at events. Over its short existence, PixMob has worked with Oprah, Arcade Fire, Tiësto, Cirque du Soleil, the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games, the 2014 Super Bowl and over 300 international shows and artists.
The presentation will address the interaction design process as well as the technological innovations required to achieve massive crowd experiences. It will be followed by a functional demonstration of the PixMob VIDEO technology that enables the real-time spatial multiplexing of wireless data over distances as far as 500 meters.
Biographies
Vincent leads PixMob’s hybrid team of design magicians and hardcore engineers. From experience design to rapid prototyping, all the way to mass-manufacturing, his team is hard at work reinventing the future of crowd interaction. Vincent holds a Master's in Media Technologies from the Media Lab. He has been designing and developing interactive technologies for over 15 years. His work has been published in numerous journals and magazines such as Wired, ID Magazine, ACM SIGCHI, Rhizome, MAKE, Core77, and others. He has taken part in several important art exhibitions in New York, San Jose, London, Montreal, Shanghai, Vancouver, etc. In his spare time, Vincent also teaches Physical Computing at Concordia University.
