At our  City Science Network meeting on January 27th ,  the City Science Lab Hamburg, presented two of their latest research projects:

CARE4HH
The energy transition in urban areas is a complex challenge that requires integrated, interdisciplinary solutions, combining urban development and energy systems, as illustrated by Hamburg’s transformation process. Research knowledge and data are often fragmented in isolated silos, which CARE 4 HH addresses by bundling existing simulation models and databases. Transparency and participation are essential to make complex transformation processes understandable and manageable for administration, politics and citizens, strengthening acceptance and efficiency. CARE 4 HH focuses on modelling future energy systems for electricity, heat, gas grids and renewables, involving stakeholders from politics, planning and civil society.

DIDEK Construction Sites
The DiDEK project aims to digitalize construction-site communication, turning fragmented data into an open, transparent narrative that urban stakeholders can understand. At the core of this approach is a central Data-Hub that consolidates isolated municipal datasets into a single, reliable data source upon which stakeholder-specific applications can be built. By leveraging this harmonized data for interactive maps and data storytelling, the project bridges the gap between complex engineering processes and public need.
