Elizabeth Stephenson is the director of the New England Aquarium’s Marine Conservation Action Fund (MCAF) a global micro-granting and fellowship program based at the Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life. Under Elizabeth’s leadership, the MCAF program grew and evolved from its primary focus on rapid turn-round funding for urgent projects, to one that remains agile but now focuses on building enduring supportive relationship with grantees, most notably through the MCAF Fellows Program. The Fellows Program hosted its first global fellows summit in Boston in the fall of 2019. Elizabeth will share both the history and future vision for the MCAF program, along with inspiring stories from community-based projects led by MCAF fellows and grantees in Iran, Costa Rica, Peru and beyond.
