Professor Tod Machover, head of the Opera of the Future research group at the MIT Media Lab, is curating and presenting this event at the Concord Conservatory of Music to explore the multi-faceted relationship between invention and music.
The event program features work by—among others—the American maverick Frederic Rzewski, radical electronic music pioneer Marianne Amacher, meditator and social activist Pauline Oliveros, as well as three recent works of Machover's, including the AI-infused "Mini's Solo" from the brand new production of VALIS (2023) and the US premiere of Resolve Remote for violin and electronics (2021), performed by the UK violinist Charlie Lovell-Jones.
Five Opera of the Future group members (Nina Masuelli, Manaswi Mishra, Ana Schon, Jess Shand and Nikhil Singh) will also be participating in the concert in various ways.
