City Science Network Talks Series
January 2024

The City Science Lab @ Biobío strives to create a more livable, equitable and sustainable future for regional communities. The team has been working and researching the Costanera de Concepción, a historical space of interaction between the city and the river, composed of the Pedro del Río, Aurora de Chile and Pedro de Valdivia neighborhoods. The team recently made, programmed and presented their first CityScope of this community and research area. The model, which was presented to community members and other local stakeholders in December, includes the various neighborhoods and some proposed interventions.

In this talk, researchers will discuss their recent events, the construction of their CityScope platform, and findings from this first iteration. The team welcomes insight and comments from the City Science Network.

Under the leadership of Marcela Martínez, director of the laboratory, the team strives to imagine a new human-centered future for their communities. The City Science Lab @ Biobío is a collaboration initiated by Corporación Ciudades and the Chilean Chamber of Construction, with the participation of the Regional Government of Concepción, local universities and ChileMass.
