We are a team of researchers at the MIT Media Lab studying how children think about creative collaboration with robots. As part of a research study, we are currently seeking children in grades 6-8 to participate in a free, one-day workshop on creative collaboration with robots, taking place Saturday, May 16 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the MIT Media Lab (75 Amherst St., Cambridge MA).

During the workshop, your child will interact with Doodlebot, a small drawing robot that can move, draw, and talk, and Jibo, an expressive social robot. Your child will also participate in hands-on activities including programming and creating art with the robots, as well as robot design activities where they will share their ideas about how creative robots should act. There are no right or wrong answers, and all activities are designed to be fun, engaging, and educational. Your child will learn about robots, artificial intelligence, and how to design creative technology.

The workshop will take place at the MIT Media Lab (75 Amherst St, Cambridge, MA 02139) on Saturday, May 16 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We will provide lunch, snacks, and water for your child. No prior robotics or programming experience is required, and there is no cost to participate.

If you are interested in having your child participate in this study, please fill out this interest formWe will follow up with consent forms and additional logistics to confirm your child's enrollment. Feel free to share this opportunity with other parents who might be interested!

Please note that this robot workshop is being offered solely as part of a research study. Participation in the workshop therefore requires enrollment in the study.

If you have any questions about the study, please email Isabella Pu at ipu@media.mit.edu.
