Title: MIT Special Session I: Cross-Cultural Collaboration
Presenter: Prof. Hiroshi Ishii (Associate Director, The MIT Media Lab)
Keywords: Cross-cultural experience, internationalization, self-actualization, researcher
Description: Lecture for 30 minutes + Q&A for 20 minutes

- Being young means that you have treasures such as strong physical strength, flexible sensitivity, unrelenting curiosity, and infinite possibilities. Therefore, when you are young, you should have the courage to test yourself in a world of different values and cultures by getting out of your comfort zone and throwing yourself into an unknown environment, to polish yourself, and to train your survival skills to adapt to change.

- In 1994, I was invited to speak at a conference in Atlanta, USA, which led to my being headhunted by the MIT Media Lab, and in the fall of 1995, I made the transition from NTT to MIT, from a Japanese company to an American university. In the fall of 1995, I moved from NTT to MIT, and from a Japanese company to a US university, and survived a much tougher competition for survival than I expected. The key is flexibility and adaptability to change. The key is adaptability, the ability to adapt to change, and the ability to build mountains.

- In this session, I would like to look back on my life as a researcher over the past 30 years and talk about the three strengths that have sustained me: stake power, journey power, and mountain-building power, and ask you how you can live your remaining time to contribute to the people of the future.

- We are looking forward to the participation of young people who have big dreams and want to be active on the world stage.
