A variety of Media Lab community members will participate in the SIGGRAPH 2026 Conference, the premier conference on computer graphics and interactive techniques worldwide.

This year's conference features a hybrid structure with both virtual participation and on-site attendance in Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California. 

Tuesday, July 21

Presentation: Resonance: Meditative Neural Rhythms as Collective Spatial Experience @ 9:20 am PDT

Presented by Critical Matter researcher Ruipeng Wang, Professor Behnaz Farahi, and other collaborators from Harvard University, Resonance transforms a traditionally solitary meditative practice into a shared spatial experience by externalizing a meditator's neural rhythms as architectural-scale light and motion. Bridging contemplative traditions with computational design, it expands bio-responsive systems beyond subjective interaction toward shared, embodied engagement and collective awareness.

Presentation: Ancestral Craft and Emerging Technologies: Designing Futures from Place @ 1:00 pm PDT

Presented by City Science researchers Gabriela Bila Advincula and Jonny Cohen, this talk presents a place-based approach to designing interactive systems that combine ancestral craft and emerging technologies. Through XR installations and robotic artworks developed in the Amazon rainfores, it shares methods for building non-generic futures grounded in local knowledge, material practices, collaboration and real-time graphics.

Presentation: Electrospun Fields: 3D Nano-Fiber Material Computation as Design Method @ 4:05 pm PDT

Presented by Critical Matter researchers Justin Wan and Sergio Mutis, Professor Behnaz Farahi, and collaborators from Harvard University and MIT, Electrospun Fields advances SIGGRAPH's interest in material computation by framing electric fields as programmable boundary conditions and fiber deposition as a material rendering of invisible forces.

Poster: Context Aware AI Assistant and AR Interface for Lunar Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Procedural Guidance @ 9:00 am PDT

Presented by Critical Matter researcher Sergio Mutis, Tangible Media alum Ganit Goldstein, and collaborators from across MIT, GAIN-AI is a context-aware AI assistant and augmented reality heads-up display designed to support astronauts during lunar extravehicular activities.
