The City Science Lab @ Biobio recently hosted a CityScope Symposium where the team presented their research findings on the Costanera, a region of the city located on the Biobio River. The Symposium outlined various public projects that are being proposed for this area.
Luis Alonso attended and was a panelist at the event. The panel discussion focused on how cities, public leaders, and stakeholders can leverage platforms like CityScope to advance urban planning. They also discussed utilizing data-driven, collaborative, and participatory approaches to shape the future of urban environments. The conversation also featured Óscar Ferrel, Chief of the Infrastructure and Transportation Division at the Gobierno Regional del Biobío; Marcela Martínez, Director of Studies at City Lab Biobío; Edison Salinas, Academic and Researcher at Universidad del Desarrollo Concepción; and Claudia Toledo Alarcón, Head of the Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Housing and Urban Development for the Biobío Region.
During the event, Helen de la Fuente, a researcher at CSL Biobío, presented four additional projects of interest to the Costanera community. These projects were developed through participatory workshop sessions with the local community. The four urban initiatives showcase the full technological capabilities of CityScope, allowing for the simulation of potential future impacts of urban projects still in the ideation phase.
The event was organized by City Lab Biobío and Corporación Ciudades, with the special participation of a group of fifth-year Architecture students from Universidad del Desarrollo, led by Edison Salinas.
