On April 27, at 10pm ET/7pm PT, Professor Paradiso will join the band for a pre-release listening party on BandCamp.

Media Lab Professor Joseph Paradiso, who leads the Responsive Environments group, is also known for designing, building, and playing electronic music synthesizers. The Paradiso Synthesizer — arguably the world’s largest homemade modular synthesizer — has been installed and played in venues as diverse as MIT’s Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC), the MIT Museum, and Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria. 

During a sabbatical in 2025, Professor Paradiso collaborated with Hound Dog Taylor's Hand, a jazz/pysch band based in Seattle, for The Structure And Dynamics Of Disordered Systems.  Professor Paradiso provided custom synthesizer textures, which the band built the album around. It will be released on May 1, as a digital download and on vinyl — the first time, Professor Paradiso notes, that his music has been released on vinyl. 

"I'm really proud to have been a part of this one," Professor Paradiso says. "I love all the different places this record takes the listener — it really shows off HDTH's versatility playing off the atmosphere of my synth textures…I also love the cover they made for it (a bit reminiscent of psychedelic videos made of the SalMar Construction in performance back in the '80s — a great tie-in for me)."
