“Engineering is all about iterative design and failing. I’m probably going to fail eight times…that ninth time or tenth time? I’m gonna nail it.” — Media Lab Director Dava Newman, on Mission Unstoppable

Saturday, September 28, enjoy a conversation between Mission Unstoppable host Miranda Cosgrove and Media Lab Director Dava Newman! Check your local CBS listing for details.

In Mission Unstoppable, Miranda Cosgrove highlights female innovators at the cutting edge of science—including zoologists, engineers, astronauts, codebreakers and oceanographers. Academy Award-winning actress Geena Davis serves as executive producer, bringing her passion for creating change in the portrayal of strong female characters in entertainment and media that positively influences young viewers. Cosgrove also serves as an executive producer. Mission Unstoppable is produced in collaboration with IF/THEN, an initiative of Lyda Hill Philanthropies.

Transcript of the promo video posted on social media:

- [Miranda Cosgrove] Traveling to Mars and exploring its harsh environment won't be easy, but the new spacesuit is designed with these challenges in mind. With the help of Dava Newman, astronauts will be wearing a new cutting edge spacesuit.

- [Dava Newman] It's called the BioSuit. I'm actually the Apollo Program Professor of Astronautics, which means I get to think about sending people to the moon and Mars.

- [Cosgrove] She and her team developed the technology to make six ultra thin layers that provide as much protection against the heat, light, and darkness of space as the old 300-pound suits.

- [Newman] This is Kevlar, very tough material. It's very lightweight, it's very flexible. Gonna cinch it up. Now, I have the right pressure. Engineering is all about iterative design and failing. I'm probably gonna fail eight times. It's perseverance. That ninth time or 10th time, I'm gonna nail it.
