Canan Dagdeviren, associate professor of media arts and sciences and director of the Conformable Decoders research group, will be the featured speaker at “Beyond the Wearable: Technology That Can Detect, Diagnose, and Treat Disease,” an MIT Alumni Forum taking place online on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 4–5 p.m. ET.
The conversation will explore what comes after today’s wearable devices and how Dagdeviren’s group is developing flexible, stretchable technologies that adapt to the human body. Topics include a wearable ultrasound patch for early detection of breast abnormalities, soft sensors that monitor organs such as the bladder, and minimally invasive technologies that interact with the brain and other tissues.
The online forum offers an opportunity to hear about this research and engage with the speaker through questions.
