Micro-randomized Trials and Moderated Effects of Mobile Health Intervention Pushes on Behavior

A critical question in the development of mobile health interventions is when, and in which contexts, is it most useful to push intervention content to the user. This concerns time-varying dynamic moderation by the context on the effectiveness of intervention pushes. In this talk, Susan Murphy, will discuss the micro-randomized trial design and associated data analyses for use in assessing moderation. This approach will be illustrated with data from a micro-randomized trial of a physical activity intervention, Heartsteps.
