The DCI’s Bitcoin Core developers have been reviewing and guiding Hennadii Stepanov's work to migrate to the CMake buildsystem, which was merged in September after a multi-year effort. It will be available for the v29 release of Bitcoin Core. Cory authored the previous (Autotools) buildsystem over 10 years ago and helped to maintain it ever since, so it's only fitting that he helped to oversee the migration. In addition to being much easier to maintain, developers are now able to take advantage of many of CMake's benefits over the old buildsystem: Visual Studio/Xcode/Ninja generators, multi-config builds, language server protocol integration, etc.
