Jackie Smith, doctoral student in Team Space Enabled, participates in the Summit for Space Sustainability which is hosted by the Secure World Foundation

As noted by the hosts, "the 5th Summit for Space Sustainability is a high-level, multi-day event focused on developing solutions for space sustainability, hosted by the Secure World Foundation, to be held on June 13-14, 2023 in New York City, New York. The 5th Summit for Space Sustainability will be a unique gathering of global stakeholders from government, industry, and civil society. This event will feature keynotes, interactive sessions, panels, and networking designed to highlight opportunities and challenges for developing solutions for space sustainability."

Jackie serves as a Captain in the US Space Force and researches the implications of the expected increase in the practice of in-space assembly and manufacturing (ISAM) for the US government. As part of this research, Jackie will attend the Summit to learn about the latest policy and technical aspects of the evolving topic of ISAM.

One of the speakers at the Summit is Nikolai Khlystov, is the Lead for Future of Space at the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution of the World Economic Forum. Team Space Enabled has collaborated closely with Nikolai on the Space Sustainability Rating project, which has created a nonprofit that hosts a rating system to incentivize satellite operators to reduce space debris and collision risk.
