The award will support Sra's research on "Extended Reality Meets AI: Designing Interactions for Novel Human-AI Systems."

Misha Sra, an alum of the Fluid Interfaces group and current assistant professor in the Computer Science Department at UC Santa Barbara, has received a 2023 National Science Foundation (NSF) Early CAREER Award. The CAREER program offers the NSF's most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education, and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization.

In the abstract for her CAREER award, Sra wrote, “This project will provide foundational knowledge about interactions between humans and AI agents that can replicate the verbal and non-verbal behaviors of human expert trainers in the context of motor-skill learning.”
