PhD students Irmandy Wicaksono (Responsive Environments) and Matt Groh (Affective Computing) are among the recipients of the Harold Horowitz (1951) Student Research Fund awards for 2023.

Wicaksono received the award for his research in realizing sensate fabrics across scales, while Groh's award will support his work on evaluating human-AI collaboration in medical diagnosis.

Established in 1999 through the generosity of alumnus Harold Horowitz AR ’51, the fund makes awards on an annual basis to one or more students, graduate or undergraduate, enrolled in a degree program in the MIT School of Architecture and Planning. The award recipients are selected based on their academic achievements and dedication to their graduate research works.
