Danielle Wood was selected as a 2023 winner of MIT's Teaching with Digital Technology Award. The Teaching with Digital Technology Awards are student-nominated awards for instructors who have effectively used digital technology to improve teaching and learning at MIT. The goal is to recognize instructors for their innovations and to give the MIT community the opportunity to learn from their practices. The awards are co-sponsored by Open Learning and the Office of the Vice Chancellor.

The winners of the award are selected based on student-nominations. This year, students submitted 167 nominations. Seven winners were selected by a panel of MIT student volunteers. The awards are co-sponsored by Open Learning & the Office of the Vice Chancellor.

Here are quotes from the student nominations for Danielle:

“Professor Wood's dedication to offering her courses in [hybrid] format and making sure that virtual participants are integrated in the classroom and its activities has really made me feel integrated in the MIT community and makes me value her commitment to being inclusive to students with disabilities and atypical backgrounds.”

“Professors like Dr. Wood make me feel like I belong at MIT and don’t need to pick pursing my PhD at MIT OR my personal responsibilities and has really influenced my feels about staying in academia in general.”

The winners are celebrated at a luncheon on Tuesday, May 30 at MIT.
