The Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s new Jeanne R. Johnson Education Center will provide interactive music experiences to students across North Texas, focusing on STEAM-based creativity and learning activities produced in cooperation with the Media Lab’s Opera of the Future group.

Professor Tod Machover, Muriel R. Cooper Professor of Music and Media at the MIT Media Lab, says, "We are thrilled to work with the DSO on the new Johnson Education Center. Through the DSO's gift to the Opera of the Future group at the MIT Media Lab, we have a wonderful opportunity to enhance music listening and understanding for everyone with the help of cutting edge technologies, while opening doors to the creative uses of AI and the potential of music to enhance physical and mental wellbeing."

The Opera of the Future group has been involved in designing various seminal audience-immersive music installations over the past few decades, from the Brain Opera to the House of Music museum in Vienna, and this project in Dallas represents the opportunity to re-envision this concept for next generations.
