Sergio Eduardo Mutis Ordóñez is a Colombian architect, researcher, and computational designer exploring resilient alternatives for human inhabitation through robotics, digital fabrication, and AI.
Sergio is a SMArchS Computation Fellow at MIT’s Architecture Department, Technical Tutor in Architectural Robotics at UCL’s Bartlett, and Research Assistant with the Critical Matter Group at the MIT Media Lab. He has served as Visiting Tutor in the Innovation Design Engineering program at Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art.
Previously, Sergio worked with global firms, including Zaha Hadid Architects' CODE group, advancing research in advanced geometry and procedural design. His contributions have featured in exhibitions at the Venice Biennale and Chicago Architecture Biennial.
Academically, he holds a Master’s in Architectural Design from UCL, earning the Bartlett AD Gold and Theory Medals, and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, receiving the National SCA Thesis Award. Sergio also co-leads Apata Colombia, a non-profit recognized for eco-tourism and peacebuilding efforts.
