Director's Fellow Jaylen Brown is an NBA basketball player for the Boston Celtics. Drafted by the Celtics in 2016 as the third overall pick, Jaylen's star continues to rise. An integral contributor to the team, he represents the future of the Celtics' long-standing, winning tradition. Prior to the league, he played one season at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned First-Team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors. Off the court, Jaylen is equally engaged—with wide-ranging interests including Spanish, history, finance, tech, meditation, philosophy, and social justice advocacy. In addition to speaking at The Players Technology Summit at Harvard University and at MIT, he has also hosted his own Tech Summit and mentors players prior to their entry into the NBA draft. 


The MIT Media Lab collaborates with Jaylen Brown through his role as an MIT Media Lab Director's Fellow to create impactful opportunities for marginalized youth. 

In July 2023, the 7uice Foundation’s Bridge Program took place at the MIT Media Lab. This event brought Black and Brown students from underserved communities to the Lab for a multi-day series of innovative, project-based workshops centered on leadership, creativity, and career development. 

In August 2024, Jaylen Brown furthered his engagement with the MIT Media Lab when his 7uice Foundation sponsored five high school interns to support the finals of the Zero Robotics programwhich welcomed 70 middle schoolers  and featured a live chat with astronauts on the International Space Station.

These activities underscore the MIT Media Lab’s commitment to fostering creativity, STEAM education, and meaningful engagement for youth from diverse backgrounds. Through Jaylen Brown's role as a Director's Fellow, the MIT Media Lab reinforces its dedication to bridging opportunity gaps and empowering future leaders.
